Obituary: Arthur Jordan


RALEIGH - Arthur W. Jordan, 69, of 3200 Barnsley Lane, died Sunday, July 3, 2005, in Rex Hospital after a long struggle with cancer. Mr. Jordan was born in Wilmington, NC, and was retired from Champion Spark Plug Company. Mr. Jordan was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Raleigh Elks Lodge and a Past Master of the William G. Hill Masonic Lodge. He also served in the Army Reserve during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Jordan was the son of the late Frederick Arthur Jordan and Mary Catherine Morris Jordan of Wilmington.


Mr. Jordan is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Hazel Henderson Jordan and his only son, Arthur W. Jordan Jr., both of Raleigh; his siblings, Frederick Robert Jordan, Mary Catherine Simmons and Morris Edward Jordan as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition, he is survived by his aunts, Mrs. E.W. Godwin, Mrs. James Newton, Mrs. Jack LeGwen and his uncle, Charles Morris.


A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2005, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC. A second memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2005, at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 2237 Castle Hayne Road, Wilmington, NC. The family will be at the home of Bob Jordan, 7106 Cocker Court, Wilmington, NC.
