Obituary: Vura Foy, JR

Vura K. Foy, Jr., (Mutt), of Wilmington, NC, died Saturday, March 6, 2004 at Cypress Pointe Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

He was born in Wilmington on June 19, 1935, the son of Bessie Fisher Foy of Wilmington and the late Vura K. Foy, Sr. He was preceded in death by sister, Geraldine Lutterloah.

Mr. Foy was a member of First Advent Christian Church. He retired as an electrician from CP&L. He played in the Senior Citizen Softball League (Golds Gym Team), loved to surf fish, and had a love of flowers and growing plants.

Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife, Grace Morgan Foy of the home; four children, Wanda Foy Long and husband Clint of Leland, NC, Vera Foy Mintz and husband Leslie of Maco, NC, Michael Foy and wife Robin of Rocky Point, NC, and Judy F. Jones and husband Ronnie of Wilmington, NC; six grandchildren, Shelly, Clint Jr., Emily, Scott, Ryan, and David; one brother, William Douglas Foy of Hampstead, NC.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel by Rev. Sam Hill. Interment will follow in Sea Lawn Memorial Park in Hampstead, NC. Pallbearers will be Marty Lewis, Sammy Hunt, Hank Aaron, Ronnie Jones, Buddy Morgan, and Jim Allred.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.
