Obituary: H. RICHARD WILLIAMS JR.
H. Richard Williams, Jr., 66, of Wilmington, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2003, in New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Fayetteville December 27, 1936, the son of the late H. Richard and Rena Yates Williams.
He will be remembered for his 30-year career in radio and TV broadcasting, including WMFD radio and as the news and special events reporter at Kennedy Space Center in the 1960's, and later for WECT TV. After retirement he enjoyed an association with the Cape Fear Coast Convention & Visitors Bureau.
He is survived by one son, Rob Williams and wife Cher)'l Ann Williams of Charlotte, NC, a sister, Yates Williams Jones of Redmond, WA, a brother, John Boykin Williams and wife Sue Bridgers Williams of Wilmington, nieces Allison Jones of Redmond, WA, and Helen Strange Williams of Wilmington, nephews Robert Jones Jr. of Redmond, WA, and John Yates Williams of Wilmington.
A private family service will be held Thursday in Oakdale Cemetery.
