Richard Stanmore Buck, of Pinehurst, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at Duke University Hospital, after a long illness.

He was born Feb. 11, 1935, in Wilmington. Educated at NC State University, he was an architect and an emeritus member of the American Institute of Architecture, who practiced his profession in the Piedmont and the Sandhills.  

He is survived by his wife, Lynda Watson Buck; son Richard Buck Jr., of Greensboro; stepchildren, William Jarrell (Jill), of Greensboro, Meredith Philipps(Chris), of Pittsboro; and his beloved granddaughter, Dylan Philipps.

A celebration of life with a memorial service will be held at the home on Saturday, April 28, from 2 to 5 p.m.
