Obituary: Martha Boone Lamica


Martha Boone Lamica of Wilmington died of cancer on September 20, 2012 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Center. The daughter of Richard P. and Pearl Hill Boone, she was born March 25, 1936. Martha was a retail floral designer and the whimsical creativity she applied to her work touched almost every other aspect of her life as well.

Martha was predeceased by her two children, Deborah McAllister and an infant daughter; and her husband, George Lamica.

Martha wished to acknowledge the special care of Dr. James Wortman; Dr. Peter C. Mancusi- Ungaro at the Zimmer Cancer Center; the nursing staff at Cape Fear Hospice; and Grace Johnson, a wonderful friend throughout her medical ordeal.

A funeral service, to be conducted by the Rev. Mike Lewis of Wrightsboro Baptist Church, is planned for Tuesday, September 25, at 11:00, at Oleander Memorial Gardens, at 306 Bradley Drive.

In lieu of traditional contribution currency and destinations, Martha requested that a gift of kindness be given to someone in need.
