Obituary: Miriam (Mimi) Bergen Wellborn
Miriam (Mimi) Bergen Welborn of Currie NC died January 17, 2011, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Life Care Center in Wilmington, NC.
She is survived by her husband Dan of Currie, NC; sister Evelyn Loftin and husband Sam of Foley, AL; son Bart DeGraw and wife Melinda of Winchester, VA; daughter Dana Eakins of Weaverville, NC; step- daughter Laura Smith and husband Tony of Candler, NC; step-daughter Lisa Welborn of Morganton, NC; step-son Bryan Welborn and wife Brenda of Pinebluff, NC; and former daughter-in-law Brenda Wade of Wilmington, NC. She has 9 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren in her extended family.
Mimi was born August 24, 1935 in Wilmington, NC, daughter of the late Charles and Christine Bergen. She graduated from New Hanover High School in 1954.
She and her husband returned to the Greater Wilmington Area in 1980. They owned and operated Ink Arts Gallery and Gifts in downtown Wilmington during the 1990's. She will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family and friends and her gracious smile.
A memorial service will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 16 N. 16th St. at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 30, 2011. Reception to follow.
