Obituary: JOHN BERNARD "JOHNNY" COVINGTON
John Bernard "Johnny" Covington of Wilmington died Wednesday, December 2, 1998 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Lumberton, N.C. on April 14, 1936, son of the late James Bernard and Banoie Singletary Covington.
Mr. Covington was a member of Pine Valley Church of God. He retired as Production Manager of Textilease Corporation after 35 years of service, and was an avid fisherman and golfer, and an honorary member of the Rieglewood Golf Club.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Shelby Watts Covington of the hpme; two sons, John Kevin Covington and Mark Christian Covington and wife, April; four grandchildren, Shelby Kalen Covington, and Ashli, Dustin, and Brandon Allen, all of Wilmington; one brother, Harold Dean Covington of Wilmington; and one sister, Carol Covington Weatherby of Carolina Beach; and several very special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 1998 in Pine Valley Church of God by Rev. Ron Dyson. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 until 9 p.m. in Andrew Mortuary, Valley Chapel, 4108 S.
College Road.
