Obituary: JOSEPH M. TARDUGNO, JR.


Joseph M. Tardugno, Jr., 64, of Leesburg, Florida, died Nov: 25, 1999, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Spartanburg, S.C.

Mr. Tardugno was born in Wilmington, NC, and was the son of Sarah Gideon Tardugno and the late Joseph M. Targugno Sr., of Cocoa, Florida.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Inez Page Tardugno; two sons, Michael Tardugno of Greenville, S.C., and Stephen Tardugno of Leesburg, Florida; one stepson, William G. Page of Fort Deposit, MD; a sister, Rita T. Cielo of Miami, Florida; a brother, Duane Tardugno of Cocoa, Florida; and five grandchildren.

Joe graduated from New Hanover High School in Wilmington, N.C. in 1954, where he was president of the National Honor Society and from N.C. State University in 1958 as an electrical engineer.

He worked for Florida Power and Light Co. in Miami from 1958-1971 and with Danville Va. Power from 1971-1974. He worked with the City of Leesburg, Florida, Electric Department from 1974 as an Electric Superintendent until his death.

Joe served on the Board of Directors of the Florida Municipal Power Agency as an Executive Committee member. He has served this agency as Vice Chairman and Budget Committee Chairman since 1987. He was a member of the Florida Municipal Electric Association Inc., and was selected as the Member of the Year in '92-'93. Additionally, Joe was a former member of the Army Reserve and he was a member of the Brean Baptist Church in Leesburg where he
was a Sunday school teacher and a deacon for 24 years. Joe will always be remembered for the thoughtfulness and kindness he had for all that knew him. He will be greatly missed by all.

A memorial service will be held at Leesburg, Florida, on December 9, 1999, at 7:30 p.m.
