Obituary: J Homles Davis III

Mr. J. Holmes Davis III, age 56, of 239 Hampstead Place, Charlotte, died Tuesday, July 7, 1992, at Presbyterian Hospital.

Mr. Davis was born May 13, 1936, in Wilmington, N.C., the son of J. Holmes Davis Jr. and Mary Black Davis. Mr. Davis was President of the southern division' of Binswanger Company, where he was associated for 21 years. Mr. Davis, a graduate of the University of South Carolina, was a member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church, the Society of Industrial arid Office Realtors, IDRC (Industrial Development Research Council),,Charlotte City Club, and Charlotte Country Club. He served with the United States Navy from 1955-1957.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at'Myers Park Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Timothy L. Croft, Senior Minister of the church, officiating. Burial services will be private. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Wilmington, N.C.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Anderson Davis, five children, J. Holmes Davis IV of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. James (Alison) Thorp, Mrs. John (Ashley) Burlingame, Virginia Basinger and Andrew Basinger, all of Charlotte'; a granddaughter, Peyton Thorp; his parents of Wilmington, N.C., two brothers, Peter Davis and Michael Davis, both of Wilmington, N.C:
