Herbert Crowell Rivenbark, Jr. passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 following a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was 80 years old. He was the son of Daisy Reid Rivenbark and Herbert Crowell Rivenbark, Sr.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son Michael Scott Rivenbark.

Herbert was a dedicated member of the N.C. Army National Guard as a reservist for 17 years. Immediately following his retirement as a reservist, he was hired as a technician with the National Guard where he spent 42 years as a Command Sergeant Major. His entire life was dedicated to his family and the military.

He leaves behind the love of his life of 49 years, Frances Stiles Rivenbark, a daughter, Angela Roethlinger (Patrick) and a son Kevin Rivenbark (Amanda), grandsons Tyler, Hunter and Reid Roethlinger and Brittany, Michael and McKinley Rivenbark. He is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Smith of Castle Hayne, NC and Mary Lou Pecori of Watertown, NY.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Castle Hayne.

A graveside service will be held at Oleander Memorial Gardens at 11 am Friday, February 12, 2016. The family will welcome visitors at their home at 110 Teel Ct. Swan Plantation Rocky Point, NC.
