Obituary: V. GLENN AVERY JR.
V. Glenn Avery Jr. of Wrightsville Beach, NC, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, in Jefferson, NC. He was born November 20, 1935 in Wilmington, NC, the son of the late Vernon Glenn and Florence Potter Avery, and was preceded in death by his son, V. Glenn Avery III.
Mr. Avery was a member of First Baptist Church. He was dedicated to his work as a realtor and land developer. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, a supporter of the Brigade Boys Club and a volunteer at the Coastal Rehabilitation Hospital of New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Surviving are his daughters, Mary Florence Avery and Laura Avery Silva and husband Tony, his wife, Grace Furtado Avery, all of Wilmington, NC; a sister, Ruth Avery Edwards of Jacksonville, FL; and two nephews, Kelly McDonald and Mike McDonald.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 26, 2000, in Oleander Memorial Gardens by Rev. Jim Everette. Pallbearers will be Louie Burney, Russell Clark, Bob Godley, Odell Bridgers, Larry Bullard, David Barefoot and Ed Rusher Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brigade Boys Club, 2759 Vance St., Wilmington, NC 28412, or a charity of one’s choice.
