Obituary: CHARLES MARSHALL WADE, JR.

Charlie Wade, Daddy, Dad, Pop, Papa, Grandad, Uncle Charlie, Charlesie, Pop Charlie, Chief, Brother Charlie finished his race Monday January 28, 2019, at the age of 84, and is now home and healed with Jesus. Charlie is patriarch of an ever growing tribe and served as a wonderful example to all of us of what a husband and father should be. His loss will be felt by many.

Charles Marshall Wade, Jr. was born in Wilmington, North Carolina on April 6, 1934 to Charles Marshall Wade, Sr. and Lilly Dickinson Wade. He grew up in Wilmington with his sister Mary Jane and brother David, spending lots of time with his maternal grandparents and his Aunts Alice and Cora who doted on him without reserve. He loved the sand and sea from birth, which would likely influence his decision to join the Navy as soon as he was of age.

Charlie enlisted in the US Navy in 1954 and after a whirlwind courtship, he married Mary Jeannine Paulk in March 1961 in Kingsville, Texas. They had their first child, Jana, the following year. Over the next 11 years they had 3 more children, Trey, Joanna, and Jackie. Charlie became a Christian in 1964 and proudly served Jesus through many different ministries. He retired, a Chief, from the Navy in 1976 having served our country for 23 years. He went on to have a successful second career as a salesman in the building material industry. He lived life simply and was a quiet reminder to all those around him to be the best they could be.
