Ben was born on November 15, 1935 to Benton Grier White, Sr. and Ina Taylor White.

Ben is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy; daughters, Palmer Spaulding (Chuck) of Scottsboro, AL, Sandi Altman (Tim) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Kelley Ozogul and Suzie White both of Wilmington; six grandchildren, Rob Williams (Cammie), Stephen White, Jon-Erik White, Chris Altman (Victoria), Sean Ozogul, and Grace A. Groseclose; great grandchildren, Syerra, Amber, Randon, Reah, Leyla, Benton, and Allee; and sister, Syvaughn W. Clemmons

Ben graduated from New Hanover High School in 1954 and attended East Carolina University on a swimming scholarship and lettered his 1st year. He was a tri-athlete for many years. He worked for Riegel Paper Co., now International Paper Co. for 40 years. During his retirement he had good times on his boat with family and friends.

A memorial service will be held 2 PM Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the graveside in Oakdale Cemetery on N. 15th Street. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401
