ALTON RAY LEWIS
Alton Ray Lewis, 77, Leland, died Sunday, September 22, 2013, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
Ray was born October 5, 1935, in Burgaw, to the late Willie Lewis and Lydia Rivenbark Lewis.
He worked in auto sales and salvage most of his life and was a member of First Assembly of God in Wilmington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Daphne Lewis.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dorothy "Dot" Osborne Lewis; daughters, Kathy Ray Smith, Katrina Copeland and Gail Shappley; grandchildren, Brandy Herring, David Thorpe, Michelle Spearman, Marissa Copeland, Alisha and Savannah Shappley and Chrystal and James Smith; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Ira Lewis and sisters, Alice Lavender and Dorothy Butts.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8pm. Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2pm, Friday, September 27, 2013, at First Assembly of God with Pastor Jeff Stockford officiating.
Burial will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
